Smoking

Smoking is banned within all Amsterdam hotels, in both rooms and public spaces.

Facilities

Most hotels offer TV, phone, and Wi-Fi. Due to Amsterdam’s temperate climate and the age of many buildings, air-conditioning is far from being a standard option, found most commonly in the higher-priced accommodations. Some hotels, especially those in the Museum District, sell tickets to museums, which means you can avoid waiting in long lines.

Parking in Amsterdam is restricted, expensive, and often frustrating, especially in the old center and around the canals. Few hotels have private parking garages, instead partnering with nearby facilities and offering discounted street parking or utilizing citywide valet services. Parking fees range €40–€60 per day on average.

Prices

Amsterdam hotels tend to be some of the most expensive in Europe, so look for deals online. Prices in our reviews are the lowest cost of a standard double room in high season. For expanded hotel reviews, visit Fodors.com. Note that hotel prices typically include a V.A.T. (value added tax) of 6% and a city tax of 5.5%.
